August 2025 | Kittytubers Week 2: Purr-formance Pressure & Friendship Goals

🎬 Fame, Friendship & Being True to You

This week, our REACH adventures with When Kittens Go Viral* take us right into the spotlight! Angel Persian is chasing her KittyTube dreams, but performing under pressure isn’t always easy—especially when competition heats up. In the middle of all the singing, dancing, and whisker-twitching fun, she discovers that kindness and friendship shine brighter than any trophy.

Discussion Prompts

Use these conversation starters to connect the story to your own experiences:

  • Angel starts to feel the pressure—have you ever been nervous performing?

  • Can rivals be friends? What makes competition healthy?

  • What matters more: winning or working well with others?

CRAFT: Make Your Own KittyTube Camera with Filmstrip

Lights, camera, meow-tion! Create your very own pretend KittyTube camera—purr-fect for filming your imaginary episodes. But here’s the twist: your filmstrip can feature any animal-inspired channel you dream up. Will it be PuppyTube? StinkyTube (starring a skunk)? Red-Eyed-Tree-FrogTube? The possibilities are endless!

What You'll Need:

  • Printable camera template (to trace or glue onto cardboard)

  • Printable filmstrip template

  • Cardboard (from a cereal box or shipping box works great)

  • Glue or tape

  • Scissors (for safe parts)

  • Utility knife or box cutter (adult help required!)

  • Markers, crayons, stickers, or paint to decorate your channel

Step-by-Step Directions:

1. Prepare the Camera

  • Trace or glue the printable camera template onto sturdy cardboard.

  • Cut out the camera shape with scissors.

2. Mark the Film Slot. On your cardboard camera, mark where the filmstrip will slide in and out (On the template, it’s the dotted red lines. Two slits—one on each side).

3. ⚠️Cut the Slot (Adult Help!) ⚠️

Ask an adult to use a utility knife or box cutter to cut the slits so your filmstrip can pass through.

4. Decorate Your Camera. Give your camera some star power! Add buttons, draw a lens, or design your own channel logo.

5. Create Your Filmstrip

On the printable filmstrip template, draw & color your animal-inspired “video” scenes.

  • Maybe your KittyTube star is performing tricks, or your PuppyTube host is unboxing dog treats, or perhaps your StinkyTube skunk is doing a perfume review!

6. Load the Film. Slide one end of the strip into the first slot, feed it across the front of the camera, and out the other side.

7. Film Your Episode. Aim your camera, pull the filmstrip through, and narrate your show as the “footage” rolls.

⚠️ Safety Reminder: Sharp tools like box cutters and utility knives are for adult hands only—make sure a grown-up helps with cutting the camera slots.
